Introductions are in order

Starting a blog is something that I have been meaning to do for a while.  Not for the fact that I think that anyone REALLY wants to hear anything I have to say, but I think that humans like to think that someone is at least absorbing our thoughts and "listening," in a sense.  So what has made me decide to actually follow through with my fanciful idea of posting my interior monologue, externally?  In this particular juncture of my life on Earth that I find myself with several new experiences coming my way over the next year ... and I have the time.  Not a whole lot of it mind you, but I'm not burdening with the looming deadlines that I have had weighing on me in my recent past.  As you may have guessed, I am a recent graduate of a Masters program in Anthropology.  What does that mean exactly? To put it in as simple an explanation as I possibly can, it means that I am a professional people watcher.  I like to come up with stories about why people are acting or interacting in a particular way, and most of those ideas are grounded in where we have come from and why we change (namely that filthy "e" word: EVOLUTION).  I know, I know ... that and a buck-fifty will get me a cup of coffee.

So here I am, working three jobs with my graduate school loans piling up one penny at a time, trying to plan a wedding in another state, searching for a real job, all the while trying to make sure that our little boat here doesn't capsize.  I guess that's enough to get started for know.  Welcome to the world of a recovering grad student, and as addicts say in meeting nationwide: one step at a time.
